Video Scene III: Mash-Up Magic

Here is a long overdue post...
On July 22, 2006, John Mayer and Just Blaze met at Alife Rivington Club's private courtyard to perform a gene-spanning jam session for a hand-picked, invite-only audience. Prior to linking up on stage, the heavy-hitting musical mavens had never met or spoken. What transpired after Just dropped his first beat and John strummed his first notes was nothing short of spectacular.

Environmentally Friendly Touring

While the embracing of eco-friendly by celebrities is nothing but a new thing, I do believe it is becoming more commonplace within the music business. Reverb is a company on a mission to educate and reach out to concert goers with supporting acts. Reverb provides Bio Diesel tour busses for all the band and crew, and also teams up with Native Energy to produce wind offsets; Native Energy will provide enough wind energy throughout the country equivalent to the total energy use at each concert venue. With the likes of Dispatch, O.A.R., Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer (just to name a few) in support on their tours, Reverb is definitely helping to spread the news. Affiliate sponsor groups from Equal Exchange to the Adirondack Mountain Club also put in their efforts. The most unique idea is that at each concert the Reverb team recruits volunteers to man their display tent to spread the word. What an ingenious way to reach the teenage crowd with an eco friendly message. After the July 15th John Mayer concert, I'll report back to see how effective Reverb was.
